Mayte Garcia ex-wife of Prince makes statement on his death

What a heartbreaking time for Mayte Garcia.
In a statement to People Magazine, Prince's ex-wife reacted to the icon's death and her expressed her deepest sorrow. The two were married in 1996 but had been together since 1990.

While Garcia and the musician were very much in love, their relationship ended in 2000 after Garcia's miscarriage. The miscarriage occurred just after the bellydancer gave birth to Boy Gregory, the couple's infant son who died of a rare skull defect just a week after he was born.
Despite the pain, the beauty never stopped loving her ex which is clearly evident in the following statement:

"I can't even think of the words of what I'm feeling. This man was my everything, we had a family. I am beyond deeply saddened and devastated. I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now."

So sad.
Mayte's public message echoes an interview she gave just last year about their magical union:

"I remember our first kiss, and thinking, ‘Oh God, oh wow, this is not happening!' I remember it being overwhelming and weird. Our entire time together was amazing and surreal, and he showed me some incredible things and introduced me to incredible people. All the songs he wrote for me, that's a pretty hard act to follow. I've dated a couple of guys, musicians, who have written me poems or songs and I'm like, ‘Seriously, don't even go there. You can't compete! But I think I'm now screwed for life because my first relationship was the most bizarre relationship ever and I'm not normal any more. I've kind-of been spoiled and I guess I am kind-of screwed-up now."

Well, we hope M.G. is able to find peace in this difficult time. At least she'll always have wonderful memories to cherish.
