Prince's old band the Revolution Planning a tour in tribute to Prince!

What an awesome way to pay tribute to Prince! The late singer’s backing band The Revolution revealed that they will be heading out on tour very soon in Prince’s honor. Watch their epic announcement video here!

The Prince tributes keep coming, and this may be the most epic one yet! Wendy Melvoin, Brown Mark, Lisa Coleman, Bobby Z., and Matt “Doctor” Fink, better known as Prince’s band The Revolution, announced that they will be coming back together to honor the legendary singer in the wake of his death. But they won’t just be performing in his honor — they’re planning an entire reunion tour!

“We have decided after spending three or four days together now grieving over the loss of Prince that we would like to come out and do some shows,” Wendy said, sitting in the middle of her fellow band members. “And we want to let you know that we’ll be there soon. So we want to let you know now. Thank you and see you soon.”
How exciting is that?! Not only is The Revolution planning to reunite, but they’re doing it sooner than later! While their reason for getting back together is a sad one, this is certainly the coolest way we could think to honor Prince after he passed away on April 21. And from the looks on their faces in the vid, it seems like the band members totally agree! Watch their video below!

Not only is this a huge deal because of the relevance of The Revoution in Prince’s career, but it’s also incredible because the group has been disbanded for nearly 30 years. While they did get together for a special reunion show in Minneapolis in 2012, this will be the first time the full band has come together for a tour since the Parade Tour in October 1986!

The Revolution didn’t reveal exactly when they’ll begin touring or how many shows they plan on playing, but this is still one heck of a thrilling announcement for Prince fans after coping with his tragic loss just six days prior. And with his cause of death still yet undetermined as well as the fate of his $300 million fortune, it’s certainly nice to hear something exciting amidst the sadness — and we’re sure Prince would be ecstatic to hear that his band is doing something so special for him!
